Winning is not Elusive

May 04, 2013

Well-bred filly Elusive Leone  (by Elusive Quality out of the well performed Lion Hunter mare Leone Chiara) broke through for a well-deserved maiden win at Ipswich today. Ridden by apprentice Travis Wolfgram, she was able to begin quickly before settling on the pace. Approaching the turn into the straight Travis allowed her to roll forward, taking a nice lead on straightening. Although getting a little tired towards the line, she dug deep to hold on by the barest margin.

Chris Meagher (Co Trainer) commented, “Great to see her break her maiden status as she is such a well bred filly. She has taken a little while to hit her straps, but is now responding to our way of training and we expect her to improve further from that run. It is always good to get winners, especially for Ken Turner who is a strong supporter of our stable.”

The training partnership of John, Dan and Chris Meagher are starting to fire after moving to Eagle Farm and build up their team. Runners and winners are beginning to flow for the stable, which can now boast a ratio of almost 50% runners to winners/placegetters.
