I'm A Zulu Spears Them

Jul 20, 2013

I’m A Zulu bought up a winning double for Meagher Racing at Ipswich today winning the Seven News Handicap in stylish fashion.

Jim Byrne had no hesitation taking the son of Ukok Warrior to the front, dictating the terms of the race. After initially pulling quite hard, Byrne was able to get him to settle, slow the pace right down and then sprint home, giving those behind him no chance at all. In the end he went to the line under hands and heels for an easy win.

“His form has been quite solid and with the blinkers on we were quite confident today. Jim rode him very well and he showed the rest of the field a clean set of heels. He should win more races based on that. It was also great to win another race for Ken (Turner) and Fran (Rogers), who have also been great supporters and shown a good deal of faith in us” commented Chris Meagher.

“This is the first double we have had since beginning operations in Queensland and we are thrilled with the way things are going and the support we have from our owners. I am very confident that now we have everything running smoothly the winners will keep coming,” said leader of the Meagher clan, John.
