Kainji Rocks Ipswich

Aug 23, 2013

Kainji Rock, despite drifting in the betting proved too strong for his rivals in winning the Ray White Ipswich Maiden today.

Starting from a very wide gate, jockey Ashley Butler was able to get him across the field to settle one off the fence in fourth position.  Around 700m from home Butler pulled him around a slowing horse and went for home, taking the lead just before entering the straight. Pushed out all the way down the straight he was able to hold on and in the end win easily by a length.

“ We had him really fit for this and it showed today with him having to sustain a very long run. He is really bred to stay so we will be looking to step him up from here,” commented co trainer Dan Meagher. “It was also good to win another race for Heran Racing, who continue to be great supporters of the stable.” Added Meagher

The training Partnership of John, Dan and Chris Meagher just fell short of their second double for the season when I’m A Zulu was narrowly defeated.
