Zips A Daisy finally broke her maiden status by annihilating her opposition in the 2150m Bundaberg Rum at ITC Maiden Plate at Ipswich. Being only a small field, jockey Kirk Matheson was able to jump the mare out quickly and take up the running. From there it ended up being a procession as she stormed away in the home straight to win by a very large margin easing down.
“After a string of placings’ it was great to finally see her salute. She is probably not bred to stay but she just loves to be left alone and run. So it was good to see Kirk let her do just that. Mares when they come into form usually hold it so we will keep her going now and look for another suitable race.” Commented Chris Meagher
“Owner Rod Lynch just loves her and treats her like a pet, bringing her grass and titbits each week, so it was great that she won for him today. The stable is going really well at present with 3 winners in two days so we are hopeful that the run continues.” Said Dan Meagher
