Hialeah Jet ended a good day for Meagher Racing by winning the Mt Franklin Maiden Plate over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast in easy fashion on Saturday night, giving the stable two winners on the day.

Starting an odds on favourite, the son of Jet Spur was a little slow away but when he found his feet he quickly went to the front running his rivals ragged and winning by a good margin.

“This horse has not raced for 8 months and has had a wind operation, so although his work and trials have been really good we were a little apprehensive coming into tonight. We thought that he should win easily based on what he had done and it was great to see him come out and do it. Ash rated him very well and in the end it was a soft win. He will derive a great deal of benefit from the run, but we will not rush him and give him time to get over it before taking him back to the races. It was great to win a race with him as the owners and the horses manager Grant Morgans from Ontrack Syndications have gone through quite a bit and it is good for them to be rewarded for their patience” said co trainer Dan Meagher.
