Ashley Butlers' Indentures Extended

Sep 08, 2013

After an official application was lodged, Racing Queensland has agreed to extend Ashleys’ apprenticeship with us for a further six months.

“We are delighted that Racing Queensland have extended Ashleys’ indentures. During his time as an apprentice he has gone through some pretty tough times with injuries and the like, so we feel that by being granted this extension it will give Ashley a much better opportunity to establish himself as a senior jockey in the future” said John Meagher

“Ashley is an important member of our staff and rides many of our horses work each day. He is also building a very good rapport with our owners and as such has been rewarded by being engaged to ride their horses in races. His riding and decision making during races over the past few months has been excellent, so we want to see this continue” said Dan Meagher

“I am grateful to Racing Queensland for granting this extension and also to Meagher Racing for their support and assistance. I still have a 2kg city claim and I believe that the aim of any apprentice is to outride this claim. I have now been given an opportunity to do that and will be doing my utmost to ensure that I do,” commented Butler.
