Zulu The Warrior

I’m A Zulu, the 4 year old son of the ill fated Ukok Warrior finally broke through for another well deserved win in the 1350m Daimler Trucks Brisbane Class 3 at Ipswich.

After jumping well jockey, Bobby El-Issa let the big gelding drift back through the field to settle in front of only a couple of other runners. Turning for home he was bought to the outside of the track and quickly gathered up the leaders to win easily.

John Meagher, the mentor of the Meagher Racing partnership, with sons Dan and Chris, commented that it was great to see the horse win again for Ken (Turner) and Fran (Rogers), who have been great supporters of the stable. Also saying the horse continues to show how tough he is, winning again after being in work for 7 months.

“He has been ridden on, or just off the pace at his previous starts and we thought from the wide barrier today we would let him go back and then give him the opportunity to come down the outside of the track, as he does not appear to like having horses outside him. Bobby followed those instructions to the letter and it proved the right way to go with him,” commented co trainer Dan Meagher

“As our stable is primarily made up of younger horses, they all should be coming through and racing so we are looking forward to more runners and hopefully winners over the next few months” commented Dan Meagher
