The Season So Far
Nov 12, 2013
October was a quiet month on the racing front but we had numerous younger horses trial and jump out. As such we are looking forward to having quite a few runners in November and December.
Our first success in October was Hialeah Jet, who won very easily at the Sunshine Coast with our apprentice Ashley Butler in the saddle. That win made it 2 wins from 2 starts for us and we were really pleased that he was able to show his real ability for the ownership group, who have had a few ups and downs with him and have been so patient.
Caris In Paris was our second winner for the month as she scooted away with a commanding win over 1000m at Ipswich. It was great to have our first winner for BPK Racing and the Schembri family, both of whom have been solid supporters of us since day one.
October also saw us make our first foray south, with Chris taking Startsmeup, Shotover River and Lascar to Melbourne. Although we didn’t get into the winners circle the horses ran well and we took a lot from the experience. You will be seeing us do much more of this in the coming months, as we endeavour to place our horses to the advantage of our owners.
In a general sense the stable is still quite young with the average age of the horses around 3 years. We have taken our time with all of them, building very solid muscular, skeletal and educational foundations over the past 12 months. As such over the next few months we should begin to see the fruits of our labour. We would like to thank all of our owners for their patience in this regard, allowing us the time to try and “make” their horses.
Finally thanks to all the staff, who have had a tough month with Chris being away and who have come through with flying colours.
