Doctor David bought up a winning double for Meagher Racing when he won the Tooheys New Class 3 Handicap over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast. After missing the start at his previous outing, he jumped well and jockey Ashley Butler was able to have him running a comfortable fourth from his good barrier. Turning for home, Butler was able to bring him around the leaders and after racing a little erratically in the straight, was able to get up and win by a short margin.
“This was our first winner for Geoff McWilliam and it was great to break the ice, let’s hope there are many more. This fellow can get pretty stirred up before he races but his last start was his first for eighteen months or so and he was much better today, so  we hope he continues improve in this regard. He has good ability and we should see more of him in the winners’ circle over the coming weeks.” Commented Dan Meagher
“You can do anything with this horse around the stable but he gets a little stirred up at the races, which is showing us that he has the right frame of mind and wants to get going. We have had to do a bit of tinkering with his gear since his last run and that has worked a treat. It is good for Geoff (McWilliam) as well, as he has put a fair amount of faith in us with his horses and we are happy to be able to begin to repay him for his support.” Commented John Meagher
