Harada Bay confirmed his first up form and also continued Meagher Racings’ great run of recent winners by storming home to win the 1350m Tom Hourigan’s BM85 at Doomben. After jumping well, jockey Michael Cahill was able to settle the four-year-old son of Haradasun in a nice position off the speed before getting into some clear running rounding the corner, running down the leaders to win by a half-length on the line.
“That was a really good win and Michael judged the pace of the race very well. We have only had him for a few months and when we went to look at him at the spelling farm we were impressed by what we saw. We felt that he would run well today as his work has been very good and he has proven first up form. That said they still have to do it on race day and he did just that. He is not at peak fitness and he will take improvement from the run. We will just see how he pulls up and then decide where to go to next. But there should be more wins in store for him.” Commented Dan Meagher
“Really pleased to win today and we would like to thank all of the many owners, especially Grant Morgans from Ontrack Thoroughbreds for giving us the opportunity to train him, as they did have a number of trainers to choose from. He is just a lovely horse to train and we are looking forward to bringing out the best in him and winning more races” Commented Chris Meagher
