~~Rojo Grande showed that he was a horse with a future when he easily won the Mitty’s 3 Year-Old Handicap at Doomben over 1200m.

After jumping quickly from his good barrier, jockey Ashley Butler was able to take him to the lead without expending too much energy and then rate him perfectly to win easily on the line. The win brought his record to 2 wins and 2 placings from 5 starts.

“ There are a great bunch of owners in this horse and it was fantastic to win a Saturday race for them. We sat down after his last run at the Sunshine Coast and devised a plan to freshen him up and set him for this race. The plan also included a change in riding tactics, in that we wanted to lead. It all worked out perfectly and Ashley did a great job in bringing it to fruition.” Commented Dan Meagher

Family patriarch, John Meagher, was also full of praise for the horse and a proud man. “The boys and Andrew (Kermond) are doing a terrific job with the horses that we have in work at present. We have been unlucky recently running second in so many races. So it was great to see this horse win today, especially considering the plan we devised worked out perfectly. We should see him winning more races in the future.” Said John
