Meagher Racing saddled up their third winner in six days when Doctor David won the Biz Marketing Class 6 Handicap at Eagle Farm.

After jumping well from his awkward gate, jockey Ryan Wiggins was unable to find a spot in the field so elected to go forward and lead. Although over racing quite significantly, Wiggins was able to hold him together and when challenger in the straight he was able to kick clear over the final 100m to win easily.

“This horse has done a terrific job this time in and probably should have won all of his five starts, instead of three. We have been lifting the bar each start and he has responded really well, with this win being his best. He pulled quite hard when Ryan decided to go to the front, but still had the ability to pull away from the field in the last little bit. It was an extremely strong effort.” Commented Dan Meagher

“Geoff McWilliam, the horses’ owner has always felt that he had above average ability and we are starting to see some of that now. He seems to like Eagle Farm better than Doomben, so we have planned his races based on that and it has worked wonderfully well. He will go out for a break now and when he comes back in we will look at some races over the winter carnival.” Commented Chris Meagher

“The stable is really starting to fire now. We had five runners this week, with three winners, a placing and although we had an unplaced runner it was very unlucky and probably should have finished in the first three. It has been a tremendous effort from the boys and the staff.” Were the comments from patriarch John Meagher.
