Harada Bay enhanced his first up reputation by winning the 1350m, Class 6, Hervey Bay Hotel Plate at Doomben.

Ashley Butler was due to take the mount but was indisposed, so replacement rider Jim Byrne made the most of his good fortune, by riding the perfect race and bring the son of Haradasun with a well timed run to overpower Cracco in the dying stages to win by a short, but definitive margin.

“We were lucky to be able to get a quality rider on such short notice, but Jimmy rode him perfectly and his ride was a credit to his professionalism. He trialled very well last Tuesday and after that we were quite confident going into the race. The horse came back from his break in fantastic condition and is much more laid back this time in, hence the blinkers today. We are confident of him getting over a bit further ground this prep and if his attitude stays the way it, is there is no reason he wont.” Commented Dan Meagher

John Meagher was also excited about the stable getting another city winner for the month, saying, “The whole team is doing a fantastic job with the horses that we have. The dedication to detail shown by the boys and the rest of the staff is really paying off now and all the horses are going very well. Harada Bay is lovely big horse and there should be more wins in store for him over the coming months, especially as we step him up over a bit more ground.”

“We would really like to thank all of our owners, especially Ontrack Thoroughbreds who manage this horse. They have been great supporters of ours and it was great to win another race for them. It was also fantastic to see so many owners there to watch their horse win. There is nothing better than seeing the excitement on owners faces when their horse wins a race.” Commented Chris Meagher
