HARADA KEEPS THEM AT BAY

Mar 16, 2014

The four-year-old son of Haradasun, Harada Bay, stormed home to impressively win the Everything Gold Coast MYGC.com.au BM80 over 1400m at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

After starting from an awkward barrier, his rider, Ashley Butler, allowed him time to settle towards the rear of the field before unleashing a withering burst in the run home to win easily.

“It was a tremendous win today, as he has been knocking on the door since his last win, but he just has not been able to draw a decent gate. We really wanted to claim today, so a special thanks to the owners for allowing Ashley to ride him. He rides him quite a bit in his work, knows him well and today he followed instructions to the letter, by allowing him to settle into a comfortable rhythm before giving him lots of room to run home. We feel he has the potential to really progress onto better races over the winter carnival and todays’ win will give his confidence a massive boost.” Commented Dan Meagher

Father, John Meagher was also impressed by the win saying. “This horse has a terrific sprint and just needs to be held up so he can unleash it. It was a perfect ride by Ashley as he allowed him to do that. He will get over a bit more ground and I think 1600m will suit him perfectly. We will just see how he comes through the race before deciding where to go next.”
