Lascar showed that he enjoys the Sunshine Coast by winning there again over 1600m in the Maroochydore SLCS 3 Year Old Handicap.

After jumping well, he then over raced for a short while before settling in fourth position. On straightening, jockey Ryan Wiggins, was able to come around the leaders heels, getting to the front with 250m to go and then despite being challenged from there to the line, showed great courage to hold on and win.

“That was a great first up win. Whilst he is fit we are preparing him for longer races and as such he will take a huge amount of improvement out of that run. Owner Neville Bell has always said that he wants this guy to be his Derby horse and the way he is going there is no reason to see why he cannot make it. Especially considering that the longer the races get the better he will be.” Commented Chris Meagher

“it is great to see him back in the winners circle. He had a bit of an accident in Melbourne just before he was due to have his second start, which unfortunately ended his campaign there. Full credit to Neville and John at Kilto Park for getting him through that and giving him back to us in such good condition. He is a big, gross horse and really needed this run to bring him on. We have not seen the best of him yet and we are looking forward to getting him over some more ground.” Said Dan Meagher
