SURE DID SHINE

Diamond Glow turned her southern state form around by easily accounting for her rivals in the K. Smith & Sons Jewellers, 1200m Class 3 Handicap at the Sunshine Coast.
Starting an even money favourite, jockey Michael Cahill allowed the daughter of Bel Espirit to drift back to the rear of the small field after jumping well, before coming with a well timed run in the straight to grab the lead close to home and win easily, albeit by a short margin.
“She had some terrific form when she was a Two Year-Old, winning and being placed at Caulfield. Since then she has struggled a bit, which can happen and as such she was sent up to Queensland for a lifestyle change. We are really thankful to Grant (Morgans) from Ontrack Thoroughbreds for entrusting her to us and obviously very happy to get her back into the winners circle. Although it was only a small field she account for the opposition easily and there should be better wins in store for her.” Commented Chris Meagher
Dan Meagher was also full of praise for both horse and jockey. “Michael rode her perfectly today and just allowed her to race where she was comfortable. We had a few gear changes that we experimented with in her work and they appeared to do the trick also, as she was very calm both before and during the race. We are also so lucky to have our own state of the art treadmill, as being a lightly framed mare, we were able to build up her condition and stamina, without the added stress of track work and having to carry the weight of a rider.”
“We deliberately don’t have a huge number of horses in work, (but are always obviously looking for new owners). By working on this philosophy of quality rather than quantity we are able to give both the horses and our owners the best attention possible. It is really starting to pay dividends now, as this moth we have already had four winners and a number of placings, with some nice horses still to race later in the month. Credit must go to all our staff for the effort that they put in each and every day.” Commented family patriarch John Meagher
