Warrior Sky gave the Meagher Racing partnership their first winner outside of Queensland when Warrior Sky was successful in the 1300m North Coast Petroleum Handicap at Lismore. Internationally renowned jockey, Robbie Fradd, who was making his first visit to the track, had the Show A Heart gelding well positioned just behind the leader in the run, before chasing it down in the straight to record what was an easy win in the end.
“That makes the trip down here most worthwhile. It was good to have our first winner away from Queensland and it is our intention to travel our horses much more in the future. It was a good effort by the horse as he had to lug 59.5kgs, but still finished the race off very well. He deserves this, as he has been knocking on the door, but luck has just not gone his way recently.” Commented Chris Meagher
Dan Meagher was also pleased after the win. “It was a very good win and pleasing to get our first winner away from Queensland. He has been really unlucky at his last couple of starts and Robbie was able to create his own today. It was also nice to get another winner for Ontrack Thoroughbreds, as Grant Morgans has been a great supporter of the stable since we started training up here.”
“I am a strong believer in travelling horses as the trip and change of scenery really brings the best out of them. As such we will be doing quite a bit more of it in the future.”
