Elegant Machine broke her maiden status in winning the 1400m Fencepac Maiden Plate at the Sunshine Coast. After being a little slow into stride and settling towards the rear of the field, jockey Robbie Fradd was able to bring her to the outside in the straight and from there she powered home to win comfortably.

“We really needed that win as we have had a frustrating time of things recently. She probably should be three from three this campaign, but she was dogged by bad luck at her first two starts and figured prominently in the Stewards Reports on both occasions. This time however, despite again being a little slow away, she was able to gain some space in the run home and was too strong on the line. There are quite a few owners involved in her through Ontrack Thoroughbreds and it was great to see many of them at the track today to see her win.” Commented Dan Meagher

Chris Meagher was also a happy man after the race. “ She deserved that win and that race was probably too short for her. She will be much better suited over a little bit longer. A lot of thanks must also go to our staff who have put in quite a bit of work for little return lately, as the horses have been dogged by bad luck in races this month.”

“It was terrific to win again for OnTrack, who have been great supporters of us since we started in Brisbane. It has been a frustrating month for everyone, as circumstances out of our control have stopped our runners from showing their true potential. So it was great to finally get a result.” Commented John Meagher
