A DAY FOR RITUALS

Jun 04, 2015

Having his first start for Meagher Racing, Night Rituals extended on the line to win the 1000m  Open Angas Handicap at the Sunshine Coast, extending his record to four wins from six starts. From his awkward gate, Sairyn Fawke allowed the son of Dane Shadow to sit behind the pace, albeit three wide, before working home in the straight to take the lead on the line.
"That was a tough win as he could not get any cover and was planted 3 wide the entire race. Sairyn did the right thing by just allowing him to settle and get into a rhythm and not get involved in a speed battle up front. Although we were confident he would go well today, he is not fully wound up and will improve quite a bit from the run, so there should be more wins in store for him based on that." Commented Dan Meagher
"We are grateful to the owners for giving us the opportunity to train this fellow, so hopefully the win goes a little way in repaying their faith. He is a real gentleman around the stable and just does everything you ask of him. He probably should have started a couple of weeks ago but he had a few little issues that we had to overcome so it was terrific to see him go out and win like that, especially when there is still some good improvement to come." were Chris Meaghers' thoughts after the race.
The third member of the Team Meagher training partnership, John was also extremely pleased with the win. "He is a lovely little horse, who has a wonderful record. Not many can win 4 from 6 starts and there will be plenty more for him in the future, all going well. The boys and staff have done a great job and hopefully the winners keep coming."
