Shadow Doll scored her second career win from only ten starts when she came from towards the rear of the field to win the Griffin University Student Guild Class 2 Handicap over 1400m at the Gold Coast. Jockey, Kelvin Wharton, had the daughter of Dane Shadow travelling nicely on the rail, before moving to the outside of the track turning for home and from there powered to the line to win by a short margin.
"That was a very strong win, as she made up considerable ground from the corner. She has always been pretty difficult and does lots of things wrong still but she really put it together today. A lot of credit must go to our senior track rider Andy Kermond, who rides her everyday and has sorted out many of her little quirks. It was also great that Andy went to the races and was able to give Kelvin a good rundown on how to ride her. It was also great to get a double for Heran Racing today, with Shotover River also winning in town. On the dam side she is bred to go further so we are confident, based on how she finished off today, that she will get 1800m and maybe a bit further. either way we think that there are more wins in store for her." Were the comments from John, dan and Chris Meagher.
