Meet And Greet, improved by his first up effort at the Sunshine Coast, showed that he may have a future after winning the 1400m Australian Lawn Concepts QTIS 2 Year Old Handicap at the Gold Coast. Jockey Matt McGuren, allowed the son of Champions Gallery to sit just behind the pace before asking him for an effort turning for home. In a three way grinding finish he was able to get up in the last few strides to claim victory.
" He is a big raw fellow and is still leaning what racing is all about, so based on that it was a strong win, especially the way he toughed it out right to the line. We were pretty confident going into the race, as his first up run was terrific and he improved quite a bit from it, as evidenced by his work over the past week. He will improve further as he gets older and will get over a bit more ground based on this run. I also have to thank our staff, who have worked tirelessly over the last couple of months." Commented Chris Meagher
John Meagher was also pleased with the horses performance. " That was a great win, especially considering it was only his second start and he jumped up to the 1400m. It was also great to win another race, especially a QTIS one, for Neville Bell from Kilto Park Thoroughbreds, as he has been a great supporter of the stable. We have had a quiet time over the past couple of months, with a limited number of runners, but this should change considerably over the next few months as our younger and tried horses come online. So this win was a real "fill up" for the stable."
