SINGAPORE OF AND RUNNING

Dan Meagher had a terrific start to his training career in Singapore, with his first runners going around on Friday night.

His first starter, Sugartime Jazz, ridden a perfect race by Oscar Chavez, just failed to run down the leader in the 1400m Class 5 Handicap to go down by a head on the line.

Things improved a few races later when his second starter in Singapore, Lims Action, was too strong in winning the 1200m Kranji D. Starting from a wide gate, jockey Dan Beasley was happy to sit wide early before asking the horse for an effort in the straight. The response was positive and the horse powered away to win easily on the line.

"I would firstly like to thank the Singapore Turf Club for giving me this opportunity and secondly, quite a bit of credit needs to go to all my staff, who have worked tirelessly over the past 6-8 weeks to get us here tonight. I am really happy that Danny (Beasley) was involved with this win as he and I have been good friends for a number of years and he has helped me considerably in getting started. Mr Lim was one of Dads' biggest clients when he was up here so it was also fantastic to have Lim Stable own my first winner and their support has been tremendous. It is not easy starting from scratch, so I would also like to thank all of my other owners who have generously given me horses, almost from day one. We are building up a nice team of horses and I am confident that further success will come." Commented Dan Meagher.

Father, John, flew to Singapore for his youngest sons' big night and was proud as punch. "I am so proud of him as he has managed putting a great team of staff together, get some nice horses through the door and sort everything out is a short space of time. It has not been easy and he has worked tirelessly, so to have a winner and a second from his first two runners is a great achievement."
