Rich Affair gave his owners a real lift by winning the 1200m Draculas' 2 Year Old Maiden at the Gold Coast at his first race start. After jumping well from the middle of the field, jockey Sairyn Fawke allowed the son of Written Tycoon to go forward and sit outside the leader. On turning for home, he then showed a very good turn of foot, drawing away to win easily.
"It was an excellent win and Sairyn rode the perfect race, just allowing him to run at his own tempo and get into a nice rhythm. He is still learning but showed nice acceleration in the run home and will be much improved by the experience. We bought this guy at the Magic Millions sale last year, purely on type and feel that he will turn into a lovely 3 year old, so the win today was a bonus" commented Chris Meagher.
John Meagher was also pleased with the result. " BRC Chairman, Neville Bell was the vendor of this horse and he retained a good portion of him. Some of our other stable clients also bought into him, so we are extremely pleased for them. We also have quite a number of first time owners involved, so it is terrific for them to have their first horse a winner at start number one. We have a very good opinion of this fellow and feel that he will improve as he matures."
