After being quite unlucky at her first start, Kit De Luca came to the fore in winning the 1200m Gopher Coffee 2 Year Old Handicap at Eagle Farm. Jockey James Orman, jumped the filly out of the gates well and had her sitting right on the leaders tails for the majority of the race. Turning for home he was able to bring her around heels, cruising to a 2 length win.

"We bought this filly at the Magic Millions last year and thought she would be an early runner. Unfortunately things did not really work out that way, so it was great to see her get up today and win with the authority she did. James rode her perfectly, giving her every opportunity and she basically did the rest. She will improve from that and I think that she is probably still one prep away, so she will make a very nice 3 year old." Commented Chis Meagher

Co Trainer John Meagher, was also pleased after the win. " She is a very well bred filly so that win will only enhance her value. I'd like to thank all of the owners, who have allowed us to take her along slowly and be a bit patient with her. Obviously we are all glad to see that pay dividends. In time she will more than likely get over a bit more ground, so that gives us quite few more options."
