After a number of unlucky runs, Mimi Amara finally broke her maiden status in winning the 1200m Vid Lukas Maiden Handicap at Eagle Farm. After jumping well from an outside gate, jockey James Orman, was able to allow her to come across and settle just behind the pace, where she settled and travelled well. On turning for home she sprinted quickly to set up a winning lead and although close on the line was able to hold on well.
"She is a really nice horse and we have quite a bit of time for her. She was overdue for this win and has had a few niggling problems which we had to address and that was the reason she was away from racing for a period of time. Now she is sound she is really starting to show her true worth and will continue to repay the the faith her owners have put in her. It was a good run first up after a long break and she really improved from that outing and we saw the result of that today." Commented Chris Meagher
"It was nice to get her back on track and great to win another race for one of our most loyal supports, Ontrack Thoroughbreds. She seems to now have it all together and we just have to keep her happy and ticking over, as she will gain a huge amount of confidence from that win. Accordingly, we can see her continuing on her winning way." Commented John Meagher
