Cruising Speed stamped herself as a horse in the making by accounting for her rivals in the 1350m Class 3 Tattersall's Plate at Doomben. Ridden a perfect race by James Orman, the daughter of Savabeel was able to get across from a wide gate, after doing some initial work, before running home strongly to win by half a length.

"This filly really impresses us and she will be much better once she gets over a bit more ground. At her last start she won over 1400m and today over 1350m, so to be honest these wins are a bonus as she is bred to stay. James rode a great race, deciding to use her a bit to go forward, rather than sitting wide and then allowing her to have a rest mid race before running home strongly. We will more than likely step her up in distance next start, which should suit her. Commented Chris Meagher

"The stable is flying at the moment with seven winners this month and the ones that did not win running creditably. We are very happy for the owners of this filly, which is managed by Ontrack Thoroughbreds and believe she has a very bright future. She still does things wrong, running around a bit in the run home, but will be much better as she races more. This race will further improve her confidence and we can't wait to get her over a bit of ground, where she should excel. Thanks again to the staff, who are doing a tremendous job with the horses."
