Billy The Kid scored an impressive win in the 1200m Pages Event Equipment Maiden Plate at Eagle Farm. Ridden by Luke Dittman and starting a short priced favourite, he was sent to the front from his wide barrier and was never headed. Cruising in the end to a 2.5 length victory.

"He has always shown he has ability and being by Savabeel he should get quite a bit further than the 1200m of this race, so we are looking forward to gradually extending him. He has had a few skin problems, so it has taken a while to get him back to the track, so we would like to thank and congratulate the owners Heran Racing for their patience. Drawing the outside gate was a bit of a concern, but he had blinkers on for the first time so Luke just followed instructions, went forward and dictated terms a treat. In the end it was a pretty soft win and he should be winning more races now, as that will do his confidence the world of good." Commented Chris Meagher.

Although not at the track, co-trainer John Meagher was also full of praise for the horse. " He can be a handful and our apprentice, Sairyn Fawke, has done a good job with him, riding him work everyday. Luke (Dittman) rode a terrific race and summed things up quite quickly, with the horse looking like the winner a long way from home. It was also great to win another race for Heran Racing, who have been long time supporters of the stable and have put a decent amount of money into racing horses in Queensland."
