Up The Tempo broke her maiden status by accounting for her rivals in the 1600m Giddy Up Club Maiden Plate at Eagle Farm. Starting from an inside gate, jockey Jeff Lloyd, was able to have her traveling comfortably behind the leaders before pushing out prior to turning for home and giving her clear running to the line. Although challenged close to home she was able to dig deep and hold on for a solid win.

"I guess many punters were a little wary, second up and stepping up to 1600m from 1200m. But to be honest we were very confident going into this race as she came through her first up run in excellent shape and has been working really well. We have always believed that she will get over ground and this win confirmed that. She will end up getting further and we can see her progressing to 2400m at some stage." commented co trainer Chris Meagher

"It is always good to win a race for Neville and Mary (Bell), as they have been great supporters of ours since we arrived here. It was our second winner for them this week, which made it more special. This filly will turn out to be a really nice stayer and the further she goes the better she will get. So we are looking forward to extending her a bit this prep and then bring her back prior to the winter. I also have to say what a terrific job our staff are doing as the stable is performing exceptionally well." Commented John Meagher
