Up The Tempo scored an impressive win in the 1800m Gold Group Consulting Class 1 Plate at the Gold Coast. Starting a short priced favourite, jockey Dan Griffin was able to box seat the daughter of Drumbeats in the run and although punters would have been a little nervous turning for home, as she appeared to have no where to go, Griffin weaved some magic, got a split and that was the end, as she powered to the line for an easy win.

"She is a really nice filly and we have a good opinion of her. Not many horses can win their Maiden and then come out and win a Class 1, but she did it in style. I had a bit of a heart flutter turning for home as she appeared to have no where to go, but Dan did a fine job in driving her through the gap when it presented. Thats why you put these sort of fellows on them in reality and we have a terrific strike rate using him when we go to the Gold Coast. It was also great to win another race for Mary and Neville Bell, who are having a great run at the moment as this was their third winner with us this month."

"It was fantastic to see her do that today, she is a very nice filly and has a good future. She will get over more ground in time and will develop into a very nice stayer. The stable is really flying, so thanks again to all the staff for the effort they put into these horses. Without their efforts we would not be seeing the success we are having." Commented an elated John Meagher.
