After a promising first preparation, in which she was placed at her two starts, Vital Love broke her maiden status by winning the 1000m Hot91.1 QTIS Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate at the Sunshine Coast. Starting a relatively short priced favourite, jockey Ron Stewart allowed the filly to settle just behind a very good speed, before producing her over the final 100m and wearing down the leader on the line to score a well deserved win.

"She still does quite a bit wrong, but Ronnie has been riding her in trials and jump outs, so knows her well and really got her going over the final 100m. She will improve quite a bit from the experience and when she gets it all together will be a really nice horse. We will just run her through her grades and see where she gets to, but based on that run there should be more wins in store and she will get a bit further than the 1000m of todays race." Commented Chris Meagher

John Meagher was also pleased with the fillys' performance. "She is a very nice little horse and built like a sprinter, not tall but very solid. She has been leading in her jump outs, but Ronnie said before the race that he felt they would go really quick so he would be happy to sit behind them initially. That proved correct, as they ended up breaking the class record. Credit again to our staff and it is really nice to win for the ownership group, many of whom are long time clients. Also great for the stable to win a race on the last day of the year and come out and win another on the first day of the year."
