Cruising Speed stamped herself as a decent quality mare in winning the 1350m STAV, ABBY and MATT with OSHER'S Class 6 Plate at Doomben. Jumping from a wide gate, jockey, Jeff Lloyd pushed forward to take a comfortable lead and made it a sprint home from the 500m mark, holding on to win by a slim margin.
"She is lightly raced and did a good job today. Her work leading into this has been the best it has been, so despite the wide barrier we were reasonably confident leading into the race. She basically did the rest. I thought she was going to win by a couple of lenghts half way down the straight, then the swoopers' came, but she was strong enough on the line to win. There will be more wins in store for this girl, especially when kept on the fresh side and she will more than likley get a bit further over time. Thanks again to Ontrack for allowing us the time with this mare and I am sure all of her owners will be celebrating this win long into the night. Also I must thank all our staff, especially Andy Kermond and Paul Meagher, who have really stepped up to the plate since Chris had to go to Singapore." Commented John Meagher
