Montuex scored an impressive win in the 1600m Become A Pool Pro Stockist at the Sunshine Coast. Usually ridden off the pace and starting from a wide gate, jockey Bridget Grylls, had the well bred son of Megalia D'Oro sitting outside the leader after 600m, before working to the lead half way down the straight and then defying all comers to win by a length.

"It was a very nice win and Bridget rode him a treat, allowing him to go forward at a steady pace, after he was a bit slow away. He is proven over further ground than todays race, so he should get better as his races get a bit longer. It was also good to win a race for Waratah Thoroughbreds and Paul Fudge, who has put a lot of money into racing and deserves this. He has given us three horses to train, has been very patient and hopefully this is just the first of many winners. Also, thanks to our staff who continue to do a tremendous job in looking after the horses so well." Commented John Meagher
