After being placed 10 times from 12 starts, Heart Of Australia finally broke her Maiden status in winning the 1200m Sirromet Maiden Plate at Ipswich. Starting from the inside gate, jockey Jeff Lloyd allowed the filly to settle behind the pace, before securing a rails run in the straight and go on to win easily by 2.3 lengths.

"This filly has never run a bad race and really deserves to finally salute the judge. She is as honest as the day is long and always tries her heart out. We decided to try riding her a little bit more quietly today and Jeff did exactly that, producing her at the perfect time. Congratulations the the owners, who have probably been quite frustrated in seeing her run so many placings, but have been very patient and that patience has finally showed some dividends. That wins brings her stakes money up towards $80,000 which is very good in anyones language for a one time winner. We will see how she comes through the race before we decide what to do next, but that win should give her confidence a tremendous boost and hopefully she can now continue on her winning way."
