After being well backed late, Rich Affair made his followers very happy in easily winning the 1110m Queensland Council of Unions BM70 Handicap at Doomben. Starting from barrier 1, jockey Brad Stewart had him in the perfect position from the start and was able to peel out before the corner to run over the top of the leader, to score by almost 2 lengths.

"He has had a few niggling problems this preparation, so it has taken a while to get him to the races, but he showed today that he was ready. We were quite confident going into the race, the only problem was that he had drawn the inside and that appeared to be the worst part of the track. But Brad was confident that things would pan out, which they did. The owners have been very patient, so thanks to them for allowing us the time to get him right and congratulations to all of them on another win." Commented stable foreman Andy Kermond.
