Savanna Amour scored a brilliant win in the listed 1200m Hinkler Handicap at Doomben. Ridden by Ben Melham, who had her mid field, one off the fence from barrier 5, she sprinted quickly through a narrow gap in the run home to score a convincing win.

"We were always a little bit worried about the track conditions, but it was Race 1 and we were able to be on a part of the track that had not been raced on for a month, so I think that definitely helped. Ben rode a terrific race and basically had her in the better going the whole way and she just did the rest. There is still some improvement in her, as she was not fully wound up for today, with our target race the Tatt's Tiara in 2 weeks. Congratulations to the Ontrack Team and all of her owners, they have been very patient and that is now paying dividends. The staff here, especially our Brisbane foreman, Andy Kermond, and in Melbourne are doing a wonderful job and that is showing in our results overall, so a big thanks to them for all of their hard work."
