Mystic Eyes broke her Maiden status at Ipswich in winning the Schweppes Maiden Stakes over 1350m. Starting a short priced favourite, Jockey Ron Stewart took her straight to the front from the outset and then set up a good break turning for home, before allowing her to stoll home and win by 4.75 lengths.

"It was great to see this girl break her Maiden status, as she is so honest and never really stops trying. Ron rode the perfect race, due to the fact she is better if she can just have her own way and also have the rail to guide her, as in the past she has hung a bit at times. We are really pleased for the Herans', who are very good supporters of ours both here and in Victoria and it is always nice to get a winner for them. Andy (Kermond) and the team at Eagle Farm are doing a wonderful job with the horses there and it a credit to them for turning her out the way they did today. Based on that run, she should be competitive in the next grade up should get 1600m, so we will more than likely look at gradually building her distance." Commented Chris Meagher
