New Horizons made it two wins from three starts this preparation, after accounting for his rivals in the 1300m North Coast Petroleum Class 1 Showcase Handicap at Lismore. After starting from a sticky gate, jockey Tegan Harrison was able to come across from the outset to lob third, one off the rail, before moving to the lead soon after turning for home and safely holding the opposition in the run home.

"This fellow is really progressing well since we made a conscious decision to keep him a bit shorter and on the fresh side. He probably should be three from three but missed the start at the Gold Coast second up, which cost him in the end. But if he had won, we would not be here so it all worked out perfectly. At this stage he will continue to work through the grades and we are confident of him doing that. Tegan rode a beautiful race, having him in the right spot and travelling. We have to again thank Paul Fudge of Waratah Thoroughbreds for giving us the opportunity to train him and it is always good to get a winner for them, as they are such great supporters of the stable and racing in general. Finally thanks again to the staff, who all put in such a top notch effort in getting the horses spot on for race day." Commented Chris Meagher
