Born Bad broke his maiden status at Mornington, at just his second start, after easily accounting for his rivals in the 1200m Mcleod Trees Maiden Plate. Unlike his first start, he jumped with the field and jockey Jess Eaton was able to have him in the perfect spot in the run, before letting him loose in the straight, for an easy win.

"His work this week had been super and we did some barrier practise with him, so we were confident of him jumping well and running very well. Jess was able to put him in the right spot and was able to push out three wide before the corner, so he could have an uninterrupted run to the line. He pretty much did the rest. He will take some good improvement from the race and it will also do his confidence the world of good. He is a nice horse and we are confident that he can win better races than this. Congratulations to the Heran Racing team, it is always good to get winners for them. Thanks again to all the staff here and in Brisbane as we had a winner from each stable this weekend."
