Divine Dice scored the ninth win of his career and bought his winnings up towards $300,00, when easily accounting for his rivals in the Perod 1200m Open Handicap at the Gold Coast. Jockey Ron Stewart, dropped the short priced favourite in behind a hot speed before producing him turn for home. From there he worked strongly to the line to win by a length.
"He has done a tremendous job for a $22k yearling purchase and done his owners (congratulations to them) and us proud. He was probably a bit disappointing on face value in the Weetwood, but we found some issues with him so thanks to our vet, Laticia Kelly, who was able to work them out and treat him accordingly. Andy Kermond and the team had him spot on for this race, so his performance is a credit to them and the hard work they have put in. Although classed as a leader, he can settle off the speed, with nearly half of his wins coming that way. As such, we felt that the speed was going to be strong today and told Ronnie not to get involved if it was and to settle behind it. He pretty much rode the perfect race having him settled and comfortable in the run and then producing him at the right time." Commented Chris Meagher
