LOOKING FORWARD

Jul 07, 2019

New Horizons completed a winning double for Team Meagher and Waratah Thoroughbreds when he very easily accounted for his rivals in the 1200m Casa Cibo Class 3 Plate at Doomben. Starting from barrier 1, jockey Tegan Harrison had no problems letting the son of Frankel stoll to the front and then kicking away in the run home for quite a soft win, creating a bit of history by being the first horse, by Frankel, to win a Metro race in Queensland.

"We put blinkers on him today as he has been losing concentration in his races and it has made a great deal of difference. Tegan has ridden him at all of his starts for us and knows him inside out and she again rode the perfect race today with him looking like the winner a long way from home. We have probably found his comfort zone in keeping him fresh and short, so we will continue with that strategy and he should be winning more races going forward. Very good to notch up a Metro double for Paul and the gang at Waratah, I am sure they will be very pleased. Again thanks to the super effort put in by Andy Kermond and the staff here in Brisbane, they do a job that is second to none and deserve the accolades for today." Commented John Meagher
